| Zaraki Kenpachi doesn’t know a whole lot about his past, but he really isn’t bothered by it. His life, as long as he could remember, revolved around finding the next big challenging fight, the next combat thrill. It did, that is, until one day, as he was resting after a battle, a small child came up, played with the blood around him, and reached for his sword. It was the lack of fear that made him pick her up, and give both her and himself a name. From then on, his world had a new element to it, one that giggled, and encouraged his love of fighting. Carrying her also helped, because plenty of people would line up for a chance to fight someone who talked tough but carried a little girl. Then his name would get around, and he had to move on to another place to fight. One day he heard of the position of Captain in Sereitei, city of the Shinigami. Apparently all you needed to do was kill the previous guy, and the position and all of the fights that came with it were yours. He leapt at the chance, easily taking out the former captain and becoming Captain of the Eleventh Squad. After an enemy kidnapped a potential ally, Yamamoto sent part of the forces of Sereitei into Hueco Mundo to take on what they found there. Kenpachi found and engaged the fifth Espada, Nnoitra. The fight was fantastic; he was cut multiple times, very injured, and yet still won. That was what Kenpachi lived for. It was, quite likely, the best fight of his life so far. | |
